ELGIN – State Senator Cristina Castro (D-Elgin) and Representative Anna Moeller (D-Elgin) presented a donation to the Community Crisis Center of Elgin on Feb. 26.

Last December, Castro and Moeller hosted a joint holiday open house and collected $300 in change from guests in attendance. Both legislators wrote matching checks of $350, making the total donation $1,000.

“It is important that we support organizations that provide assistance to women and families in our community,” said Castro. “The Community Crisis Center of Elgin does just that. They go above and beyond their line of duty.”

The funds will support the Community Crisis Center’s Economic Crisis Program, which provides basic needs and financial assistance to women and families in need.

The Community Crisis Center of Elgin provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, temporary shelter, counseling, medical assistance, financial assistance and many other services.
