SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Cristina Castro (D-Elgin) was sworn into office on Wednesday afternoon at the Inaugural Ceremony at the Illinois State Capitol.

“Voters of the 22nd district have entrusted to me the responsibility to be their voice in Springfield and I am honored to officially begin that duty today,” said Sen. Castro. “With the State in hard times, I understand the importance of standing up for the people of the 22nd district.”

Prior to being elected to the State Senate, Castro served as a Kane County Board Commissioner since 2008, while also working in marketing and communications both in private and public sectors.

“Reaching across the aisles to resolves the issues that matter most is something I will direct all effort toward. We need to come together to invest in our future, protect our residents and become fiscally responsible.”

The 22nd district includes all or part of Barrington Hills, Bartlett, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg. Senator Castro’s district office will be located in the former district office of Senator Noland, Suite 102, 164 Division Street in Elgin.
